French Club to host Mardi Gras dance

Valentine’s Day is coming up, which calls for things such as romance, dancing, and tons of chocolate. Chelsea High School is celebrating Valentine’s Day by putting on its first Mardi Gras/Masquerade dance.

The dance is being put together by Mrs. Bonnie Montgomery and the French Club. This dance is being put on to raise money for the Relay For Life foundation, which is used to help kids with cancer. The Buzz talked to Mrs. Montgomery to gather details about the dance.

The doors open at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15th. The tickets are $15 for singles and $25 for couples. The dance will go on in the Gym Lobby. The attire is semi-formal and if you are the first 100 to buy a ticket, you can get a Mardi Gras mask in return! You can purchase the tickets from January 29th through February 15th (the day of the dance) during lunch.

You can’t have a dance without a king or queen! Everybody knows that if you’re crowned king/queen, you automatically become popular for a week or so. The fame, the glamour, and the attention is everything you want it to be and everybody wants to be crowned since this is a huge deal. Mrs. Montgomery stated that, “A king or queen will be randomly selected from those who attend.”

You heard it here, if you attend, you can have a chance to be crowned king/queen. No votes, no favoritism, just an ordinary person like you and me can be crowned king or queen!

Since this is the first ever Mardi Gras dance, there obviously has to be some mastermind behind it.

“Madison O’Connell and Patricia Noel thought of it, and I loved the idea of a fun event in February along with Mr. Trucks’s idea to make this a fundraiser for Relay for Life.” said Mrs.Montgomery when asked about the idea of the dance.

Dances are always fun to experience and we’re all very happy that not only are we having a fun time, but the money is going to a great cause as well.

Just a reminder that the 2018 Mardi Gras dance will take place on Thursday, February 15 at 7 p.m. It’s on a Thursday because we are out of school on Friday the 16th. If you are interested and want more information, talk to Mrs. Montgomery or anybody on the French Club!
