This past Friday, September 6th, the Chelsea Hornets were buzzing after their win against Pelham putting them at 3-0 this season and 1-0 in the region.
Chelsea had just under five hundred yards in total yards and an amazing five touchdowns. The Hornets really brought home the win making a touchdown within the last few seconds of the game. The final score was 33-36.
One of Chelsea’s star players, Chase Stracener, pushed the team to a win with twenty-nine carries, two-hundred eighty-seven rushing yards, four touchdowns, four receptions, and twenty-six receiving yards.
Chelsea Buzz was able to hear from one of Chelsea’s players, Jackson Reynolds. When asked about the team’s intensity, Jackson Reynolds, one of the senior offensive tackles, responds, “Our intensity was great. The whole game, offense played like our hair was on fire and was flying around all game.” In other words, the boys were playing with intensity and determination. When asked about preparation for the next game, Reynolds says, “Play cleaner with fewer little mistakes because a better team will be able to take advantage of the opposing team’s mistakes in ways that Pelham was not prepared for.”
Chelsea Buzz was also able to hear from Chelsea’s offensive back coach, Coach Norris. Norris said the team did a great job being supportive of each other and working hard together to acquire the win, however there is always room for improvement; “Some of the penalties came from a lack of communication or focus- which can be fixed easily to reduce negative plays and increase our chances of winning,” Norris says. He also says, “Everyone involved can find an area of their Friday night performance that can be improved and increase their contributions to our efforts to be on the winning side of things at the end of the game.” If everyone on the team finds just one minor mistake that can be improved, then the effort of the entire team can be enhanced and the Hornets will have a better chance of winning every game this season.
The Hornets have done a great job this season executing during games and grinding during practices. Chelsea has not won the first three games of the season, like this year, in nearly a decade. After their bye-week, they will take on the Calera Eagles. This will be yet another region game that the Hornets hope to win if they continue their hard work and determination.
