Hornet athletes sign college scholarships

Chelsea High School recently held a ceremony for it’s senior student-athletes who have accepted athletic scholarships. The ceremony was held in front of the student body in the school’s auditorium.

The boys’ soccer team was highlighted by Eli Alexander, who spent five years in Chelsea’s soccer program and will enroll at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

The girls’ soccer team had three signees with seniors Madeline Guillen, Sabrina Lang, and Kh’Lari South accepting scholarships. Guillen will be attending the University of North Alabama, Long at William Carey University, and South, who also spent spent five years in the soccer program, will enroll at Meridian Community College.

The softball team’s lone commit from the 2016 class was Kathryne Shoop, who will be enrolling at Southern Union Community College.

Volleyball leads all teams with four commits, consisting of Princes Embry, Taylor Hackett, Lexie Riggins, and Maurica Marsh. Embry will enroll at Lawson State, Hackett at Gadsden State, Riggins at Wallace State, and Marsh at Edward Waters College.
