Chelsea’s Reynolds up for AL.com honors

Chelsea High School’s star running back, Zalon Reynolds, has been nominated for AL.com’s player of the week. After a great opening week of high school football in Alabama, the website put up a poll to decide the best player in these games.

Zalon, as well as eight other players, were chosen and none disappointed. Each athlete dominated the field, but we here at the Buzz are partial to Mr. Reynolds.

Zalon helped the Chelsea Hornets pull off a minor upset against the Oak Mountain Eagles. The first quarter was not looking so hot for the Hornets as the Eagles scored two touchdowns right off the bat to take a 14-0 lead. Chelsea recovered, however, thanks to Zalon, and other players, like quarterback Matthew Marquet. Reynolds went on to score four touchdowns overall, and put the nail in Oak Mountains coffin with a final 18 yard touchdown, ending the game 49-33 in favor of the Hornets.

When a reporter at AL.com asked Zalon about the game, he replied, “We started slow for whatever reason, but the offense started clicking after the first drive.”
