“For Kassie”

Logan Williams, Class of 2016

I had a thought as the dewy grass awoke

I was pondering deeply as my mind spoke

Must poetry be made from tightly bound words?

Or can poetry be a bit more absurd?

Can eyes be poetry, I wondered with a yawn

Can eyes be poetry if they can outshine the dawn

And make the dusk feel inadequate

I kept this thought and I ran with it

Eyes so beautiful can only be

A special form of sweet poetry
