“Wilting,” by Julia Gigis

Julia Gigis, Class of 2018

In a garden, she sat, where she would wait to be picked.
Each day, many would stroll through the garden and admire her from afar.
Several of the roses were picked, but she remained in the crowd of thorns.
She dreamt of being adored by one with deep devotion.
Gradually, the days grew more and more tedious.
She soon wished her days of waiting would come to an end and she would wilt.
