The mouth of September is suicide prevention month and to help our students at Chelsea high school know their not alone the Peer Helpers are selling baked goods every Thursday for the mouth of September to raise money for NAMI, a suicide prevention organization.
The goal of the peer helpers group is to create a healthier atmosphere by unifying our student body through acceptance, integrity, and positive leadership. thought the month they will also have an education table about NAMI and what the do.
NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental health illnesses can build better lives. The week of September 23rd-27th the peer helpers NAMI education booth will be set up between the lobby and library hallway with portfolios, posters, and stress balls. The peer helpers will also have a QR code bringing students to a website called “a friend asked”, so when a friend asks questions other students and peers will know what to say or how to ask for help.
The peer helpers have also written encouraging messages along our schools sidewalks and entrances. These were made as a reminder to students that they are loved and wanted here at Chelsea High School. They also made encouraging posters to go around the school with kind reminders, helpful information, and sweet messages.
