Mrs. Ami Bou is in her 1st year teaching at Chelsea High School. The Buzz was able to ask her some questions. Read below to find out what she had to say.
Chelsea Buzz: What life lesson have you learned from teaching?
Ami Bou: Flexibility! I love an advance plan and everything organized but I learned quickly in teaching that flexibility is important! What if there’s a fire alarm? What if the day’s schedule gets changed at the last minute? What if there’s a late start? What if my child gets sick? What if I get sick? What if the planned lesson just doesn’t work? Must be flexible and pivot!!!
CB: What type of student were you in high school?
AB: Top grades and super involved – fun fact – I was on the typing team and completed at state competition!
CB: What makes a “good day” at school?
AB: Not falling over a backpack, seeing no cell phones out, and drinking coffee before it gets cold : )
CB: What is your favorite experience teaching here?
AB: When a student has a “Light Bulb” moment – when they have worked so hard to understand and it finally clicks!
CB: What is someone you lookup to from your childhood, teenage years, or early adulthood that you look up to? Why?
AB:My grandmother, Mama Hon. I was her only grand-daughter so we had a very special bond.
CB: Where did you go to college?
AB: Samford University – Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics UAB – Master’s Degree in Secondary Education

CB: What is your favorite movie?
AB: The Holiday.
CB: What is one of your hidden talents?
AB: Getting sunburned walking from the school to my car!! : )

AB: Christmas.

AB: Royal Blue and Kelly Green.
