Chelsea drops football opener to Oak Mountain
August 21, 2021
The Chelsea Hornets football team dropped its season-opening game Friday against Oak Mountain, 46-19.
The Hornets (0-1) played a tough first half and were tied 13-13 with the Eagles (1-0), but a huge third quarter that saw Oak Mountain put 33 points on the board was too much to overcome.
Chelsea quarterback Hayden Garrison threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns – to Thomas Simpson and Cooper Griffin. Simpson finished with 152 receiving yards, while Griffin had 102.
The Hornets will return to play this week by hitting the road for a contest against county rival Helena.
