Chelsea girls pull off comeback to win area tournament

Thursday night, Chelsea’s girl basketball team played Pelham in the Class 6A, area 8 tournament championship and pulled off a 39-37 win.

The Hornets started off slow, and as of halftime, the score was 31-19 in favor of visiting Pelham. In the second half of the game, Chelsea came back just in time to pull off the comeback win. Chelsea held Pelham to just 6 points in the second half to get the victory.

This is the second year in a row that Chelsea has won the area tournament back-to-back. This win put Chelsea’s record at 25-5.

Senior Jordan Parker aided the team by scoring 14 points. Ellen Fleming, a junior, scored 11 points. 

Chelsea will host the sub-regional game against Russell County next week, while Pelham will now have to travel to Opelika for the sub-regional.
