Girls basketball players discuss coaching change

Hannah Carlisle, Reporter

The Chelsea High School girls’ basketball team will have a new head coach for the 2018-19 season. The Buzz caught up with two players, Hannah Shamy (9th) and Molly LaHue (9th), to get their thoughts on having a new coach.

Q- What do you look for in a coach? Why?

H-  A strong leader, who will help us and grow more as a team and family.

M- I look for someone who is supportive and knows the right way to motivate our team.

Q- Do you think that getting a new coach is a good thing? Why?

H- It’s a mix of emotions. It’s going to be a big transition, but maybe they will help us get better.

M- I don’t know, it may give us more opportunities.

———-

Q- How do you think this will affect the team?

H- I think it will positively affect our team because we will have to grow together as a team throughout the transition.

M- I think it’ll be very chaotic, because we don’t know what to expect.

———-

Q- Do you think that a new coach will be found before summer? Why?

H- No, because it’s such a short amount of time.

M- I’m not sure, I think it depends, but I’m not very optimistic.

———-

Q- How do you think this will affect tryouts and summer workouts?

H- I think tryouts will be later, but summer workouts might change a lot depending on the coach.

M- We don’t know what future workouts will look like from now on.
