Week 2 college football predictions

Luke Haywood and Bradey Shelnutt give their takes on this weekend’s matchups.
Auburn vs. Arkansas State: With both teams coming off a loss, Auburn and Arkansas State are both looking to get that first W. After only scoring 10 points in their loss to Toledo senior quarterback Chad Voytik is looking to improve his numbers after completing less than half his passes for only 124 yards and no touchdowns against a strong Auburn defense. Auburn on the other hand is still looking to improve offensively after that fiasco at quarterback against Clemson. Guz Malzahn later said that Sean White will start week two with John Franklin III at back-up. As for the defense, Auburn only held number two Clemson to 19 points after Clemson averaged over 30 points a game lead by heisman hopeful Deshaun Watson in the previous year. This game will be on SEC Network 6:30 CT.

South Carolina @ Mississippi State: After an upset from South Alabama Mississippi State is looking to go 1-1 after many projected them to start the season 1-0. South Carolina won 13-10 in a good evenly matched game against the Vanderbilt Commodores. All eyes will be on Mississippi State to see what will they do after a loss like the one in week one, will the panic, or will they stay calm only Saturday will tell. The game can be viewed at 6:00 CT on ESPN2.

UTEP @ Texas: Texas,coming off a thrilling double overtime victory over Notre Dame hopes to have a much easier time taking on UTEP. UTEP also coming off of a win hopes to shock the country as ESPN has the Longhorns as a 28 point favorite. Texas made a huge jump in the rankings to number 11. This game comes on Saturday at 6:00 PM

Western Kentucky @ Alabama: Alabama had a huge 52-6 win over USC is expected to blow out Western Kentucky. Nick Saban has decided Jalen Hurts would be their quarterback after a very impressive game. Jalen Hurts is a very mobile quarterback who can run and can throw with great distance and accuracy. Western Kentucky also coming off a win over Rice is now probably very nervous after seeing how bad Alabama beat USC. Alabama is a 28 point favorite at ESPN. This game comes on at 2:30 on ESPN 2.

Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee: With College Gameday going to Bristol Speedway, the site for this matchup, Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee is expected to be a great game. Tennessee is coming off a scare vs. Appalachian State hopes to do much better as they fell to number 17 in the rankings. Virginia tech is coming off a 36-13 win over Liberty hopes to beat Tennessee and prove they deserve a spot in the rankings. This game comes on at 7:00 PM on ABC.
