Chelsea rolls over Briarwood, 43-15

Under the Friday night lights Chelsea came away with a 43-15 win against rival Briarwood. The victory was the third in a row for the Hornets over their rivals. Chelsea improved to 2-0 on the season.

After giving up a scoring drive to open the game, Chelsea got momentum on its side with a punt downed at the 1 yard line. The defense held them up the Lions there and got great field position. Chelsea scored on the ensuing drive to go up 10-8.

Chelsea’s defense only got better from then on, forcing three fumbles and one interception. On the night, the Hornet defense held Briarwood (0-1) to just 164 total yards.

Chelsea’s offense was powerful for the second week in a row, gaining 464 total yards, 127 through the air and 337 on the ground. The Hornets also did not turn the ball over.

Notable performances included quarterback Matt Marquet passing for 119 yards and rushing for 113 yards with four total touchdowns. Running back Zalon Reynolds had 88 yards on the ground, including a 5 yards per carry average, and had one rushing touchdown.

Chelsea will try to remain unbeaten this week when they host Wetumpka (2-0).
